I think the point the person was making is that switching away from both the seed coating as well as switching to a Non GMO variety is a big shift – you are giving up a lot, typically: A) Herbicide resistance, so more weed issues, B) BT, so more insect issues, C) yield, and sometimes, other traits. Farmers may be reluctant to make such a big change.
Also, the Non GMO market is growing, but remains small, and the premium paid varies substantially.
